Lesson 9: Making the most of your title description
Skip to lesson 10: The importance of writing excellent Item descriptions
Title descriptions
Title descriptions are the main reason for many sales going down the gurgler even before you post your item for sale, so many people put useless words like l@@k, awesome, best ever and the list goes on, the reason for this is these words have nothing to do with the description of your item and do not attract attention.
You have 56 characters to use and so many people out there fail to use them and if they do, they fail to use them correctly, when you are coming up with a title description you want to think about keywords to your item, these are words that your customers are likely to use to find your item, the more keywords the higher up the list you will go. Your choice of keywords don’t necessarily have to make sense but making your item more easy to find will give you a much better chance of getting the sale or at least seen.
Hint: The more visitors you can get the more bids you will get.
Do not use words that have nothing in common with your item just because they have a good search volume, eBay and Google will work that out and list you down the bottom of your competition.
The big twister is to try and make it catchy, make it so it will stand out from your competition be whity, ambitious, but don’t use capitals.
Capital letters is yelling in the internet world but it is ok to put a capital at the beginning of each word.
Your description title is very important and if you do it wrong you will have very few bids or none. So how do you come up with a good title description this isn’t as hard as you may think, you need to first understand that Google and eBay works on the basis of keywords.
Keywords are going to drive customers to your item, eBay no longer list items in order of when they are going to end, eBay now list their items in order of keyword relevance so having the right keywords is the key, the best keywords are found in the Google keyword tool.
Start by typing in what your item is with the brand, is it a 5.1 or 2.0, add the colour of it, Add every thing you can think about it and let the Google keyword tool tell you what are the best keywords to use.
You have a list of premium keywords that people use to find your item(s). Ensure that you target the words that have a low competition and at least 15,000 search results per month. To understand keywords you can read this ebook Keyword secrets to your success.
Hint: if your item is electrical you should use local searches and not global search results as locals in your country are going to be the only ones interested in your item.
